Customer service – doggy style

Running a pet hotel where the dog always comes first can be tiring work for Joan

GOING on holiday and want to ensure your prized pooch gets extra special TLC while you’re away? A North Wales woman is offering to SLEEP with your dog in your absence.

Barking mad Joan Rakhra, of Craig y Don, Llandudno, is taking the bond between man and his best friend one step further by getting between the sheets with her canine visitors.

The 53-year-old grandmother felt traditional boarding kennels were not quite fit for purpose, and instead decided to open up her own pet hotel, Walkies4U.

But such is Joan’s love and dedication for our four-legged friends that she even opens up her bed so the pooches can snuggle up to her and her husband Mani, for a night no dog is ever likely to forget.

Although some people may think her pet hotel is a little bit out of the ordinary, Joan insists giving visiting dogs an extra special treat is all part of the service.

Joan said: ““I know it is unusual but it is in my nature, I just love dogs so when they stay with us they are part of the family.

“Most normal people would tell them to get out but I worry more about them, and that they can breathe if they get under the covers. Dogs come first in our house!

“My husband loves dogs too so he doesn’t mind too much.”

Joan promises all staying guests an evening that is sure to get their tail wagging, and says all creatures great and small are welcome into the marital bed at her pet hotel.

She added: “I have been going a month now and had several dogs who have ended up in the bedroom. It may be a problem when we get a big dog staying. We also take in parrots as well.

“Owners know they get special care here. The trouble is I always miss the dogs once they go.”
